Reimagining your Wedding day due to Covid-19

We spoke to one of our Timeless White couples who decided to postpone their big wedding due to Covid and reimagine their ceremony into an intimate event with their nearest and dearest.

Covid micro wedding

Ruaidhri and Vanessa were originally scheduled to have a large wedding for 150 guests at Dundas Castle in September 2020, with the groom’s party traveling from throughout the UK and the bride’s party traveling from North America. Unfortunately, due to the pandemic and international travel restrictions put in place, it soon became clear that their wedding could not go ahead as they had imagined. Despite Covid-19, it was still important to Ruaidhri and Vanessa to get married during 2020, so they decided to plan an elopement wedding.

“With all deposits for the various vendors made, we still hoped to celebrate with a larger group of friends and family, so we re-scheduled our bigger celebration for the following year at Dundas Castle. We then decided that we would elope on the same date in 2020, so that our celebration the following year would fall exactly on our 1 year wedding anniversary.”

Having already planned their big wedding with Timeless White, it felt like the best way to begin planning their 2020 elopement wedding also with us. We love to stay optimistic and encourage couples who are not letting Covid ruin their plans because a small, romantic, intimate wedding can still be every bit as beautiful as a big celebration. With our experience in planning Scottish elopements and micro weddings, we know just how to plan a small wedding with attention to all the beautiful little details along the way.

Vanessa and Ruaidhri’s elopement went just as perfectly as they’d imagined;

“The most special part of the elopement was the intimacy of the entire celebration. We never felt rushed at any point and the elopement wedding allowed us to focus on the marriage aspect of the wedding, as opposed to the party planning aspect, which we hope will be able to go forward in 2021.”

When it comes to recommending an elopement wedding to couples in the same position as them, they felt that although it was a challenge to put the day together with all the restrictions and the rules constantly changing, the intimacy of the day ended up being perfect. They were able to really appreciate the day, and take time together to be present in the moment, exchange their vows meaningfully, and just really celebrate their new marriage.

“The outdoor setting and bespoke elements of the elopement really made it feel one of a kind. There is not a clear time as to when weddings will be back to the pre-COVID “normal”, so for us it was important to get married while we knew that part was still within our control.”

For Vanessa and Ruaidhri, an elopement was the perfect way to reimagine their wedding and exchange their vows. Until their 2021 wedding, they’ll have their fingers crossed that everything goes ahead as planned so they can renew their vows and bring both sides of their family and friends together to celebrate.
