Here at Timeless White HQ it’s been breaking our hearts seeing so many of our clients impacted by the sad and unsettling impact of Covid-19. It’s been our honour to help them just a teeny tiny bit during this awful time but it truly is upsetting to see so many having to postpone the Wedding of their dreams.

We wanted to share a list of positive ways to keep all you gorgeous couples in a positive frame of mind about your upcoming wedding (even if the date has just shifted somewhat) and help fend off the anxiety due to the outbreak of coronavirus. Whether your Wedding has had to be postponed, or if your Wedding is to take place in 2021 and you need a happy distraction, we have listed eleven positive ways that you can plan your way through it.

And remember, the comeback is better than the setback!

ORGANISE AN #UNTILWEDO VIRTUAL PARTY

Now more than ever, we are all seeking the comfort of human connection.

If you’ve painfully had to postpone, why not organise a virtual #UntilWeDo party on what was originally planned to be your wedding day, using an online meeting platform. Ask your Wedding guests to drop in for a while, to dress up nicely and to share a virtual toast with you. You could also do a Live “Mr & Mrs” game for some amusement!

If you want to do something a little more sentimental, you could take #UntilWeDo vows (A good chance to make them fun and light-hearted) or create an #UntilWeDo playlist for everyone to tune in to.

You could even ask your band or entertainers to possibly pop in and play a live song or two too!

COMPILE AND TWEAK YOUR WEDDING DESIGN

Whether your Wedding design is finalised, or at the earliest stage, take this time to enjoy getting lost in the archives of Pinterest, Style me Pretty, Junebug and We Fell in Love for new, exciting and different inspirations.

If you hadn’t already created a Pinterest board, or a Wedding mood board, now is the time to take the chance to do it and enjoy it.

COLLATE GUEST LIST CONTACT INFORMATION AND COMMUNICATE!

This is a great opportunity for you to begin doing the slightly less exciting administrative task of compiling your guests postal and email addresses. Why not even buy yourselves a lovely Address book to enjoy the therapeutic process of handwriting the details down?

If you’ve had to post-pone your Wedding day, why not reach out to your guests with a beautifully designed E-Card from Paperless post to inform them of changes to your plans and ask them to respond with a message of encouragement or advice to perk you up until your new date comes around?

PERFECT THE CEREMONY SCRIPT

Reach out to the person who will officiate your marriage and ask them to share with you their ideas for your Wedding Ceremony. If you are to have a vow renewal or Humanist ceremony, you may also wish to add the story of how you met and become engaged.

Perhaps, until now, you had planned to stick with some of the most traditional vows but now with some time to spare, you may decide that you both want to invest it in writing your own, more personal vows to one another. Now is a great time to do some research on vow ideas, great writers and famous quotes to make them that little bit extra special.

LOOK OUT THE PAPERWORK

Forgive us, for this is a boring suggestion, but it is absolutely necessary if you are planning a legal wedding. For many of our clients the application process, if being married abroad, can feel like a lot of work to juggle around everyday life.

Do some research in to what the process is and what documents you will need to provide. Find those documents and scan them so that you have electronic copies as well as keeping the paper copies together, so that you can relax knowing it is all in hand when the time eventually comes to lodge them.

GATHER IDEAS FOR THE SPECIAL LITTLE DETAILS

We understand that many retailers are closed at the moment but that doesn’t mean that you can’t browse the online shop! There are lots of fantastic things you can begin researching and planning without having to spend any money at the moment.

Why not research items that you could add to a beautiful welcome bag for your wedding guests and keep the links to each item on a document, so that when you are ready to commit, you know exactly what you plan to purchase to make a beautiful welcome pack.

Think of the special little touches that you perhaps decided to skip because of time constraints – maybe you’d like to have an envelope on each guests’ place, telling them how you value them being a part of the day, or perhaps you are creative and can make favours or keepsakes such as candles, dreamcatchers, mini paintings or tapestries.

You could even make something sweet to include in welcome bags or as favours, if they will keep good in the freezer until needed!

SHOP YOUR GIFT LIST

There is nothing quite as fun and addictive as shortlisting wedding gifts! If you don’t already have a wedding registry, look to set one up. Many are completely free to use.

Sit down together and think of what you might want or like to request for each room in the house and then enjoy browsing the options and adding them to your shortlist. This one comes with a bonus task which is that you may want to also think about some home interior design ideas too!

SELECT THE WINES

The selection of the wines for your wedding can sometimes be a little hurried and lack lustre. Now that you have the time, why not ask your venue or caterer to supply you with a couple of bottles to sample at home for you to compare and contrast? Or, if you are working on a corkage basis, now is an excellent time to buy up some of the options you were considering and give them a try.

And why stop there, you could try different cocktails at home that you may want to serve at some stage in the day too!

LEARN A FIRST DANCE

We’ve placed this after the selection of the wines for a reason! So that you can loosen up!

There are lots of tips and tutorials available for free online and why not use the opportunity to learn a really lovely set of moves for your first dance or for a fun track that you can dance to together later on your wedding night?

This is something many of our clients say they wish they’d had the time to do throughout the planning process and we are sure you won’t regret it!

RESEARCH YOUR DESTINATION FURTHER

If you are planning a destination wedding, find some solace in the chance to really research where you are going and what the culture and norms are.

Dig deep on TripAdvisor reviews and Instagram and keep all of your new-found ideas of places to see and things to do listed so that you are ready to build an incredible itinerary for you and your guests

PLAN AN EXTRA ACTIVITY FOR YOUR WEDDING WEEKEND

Lets face it, if you’ve had to postpone your wedding for the foreseeable, you so deserve something extra to make the time (when it eventually arrives) even more fantastic and fabulous than you originally planned. Of course there can be costs attached to this if you intend to host in full but there are some ways that you can host events without much cost attached, here are some of our favourite ideas;

Have your Bridal party arrange a Quiz the night before your Wedding with a couple of rounds about you both (Maybe even with video recordings of your answers, recorded during lockdown!)
Add a Murder Mystery theme to your Wedding rehearsal night and ask your guests to come dressed as their characters
Look at ways that you could include some outdoor fun in the weekend, perhaps with a falconry experience, , clay pigeon shooting, archery or a highland games event
Theme your post wedding brunch - our favourite concept for this is an “All White” party where everybody has to wear white!
